A survey by members of United! recommends Highlands Farm and Reading Road allotments as ideal locations.

More than 30 people attended a public meeting held by United! at the d:two centre in Market Place on Wednesday evening to discuss where to build the 450 houses required by South Oxfordshire District Council by 2027.

The group identified 31 potential sites around the town which they deemed suitable, although chairman Barry Wood stressed that the site list was purely speculative at this point. Also in the top 10 were Fair Mile, Jubilee sports field and the train station car park.

He said: “This is the product of blue sky thinking and is not exhaustive, therefore this list has to be viewed with some caution.”

What is in doubt is can the town manage with 450 extra houses and where should they all go?”
