‘Prodigal son’ back in fold

TOWN councillor David Clenshaw has reaffirmed his allegiance to Henley Residents’ Group.

TOWN councillor David Clenshaw has reaffirmed his allegiance to Henley Residents’ Group.

He left the party in March to become an independent, blaming “internal political differences”.

Last week, he announced his return before the council’s monthly meeting.

Will Hamilton, a member of the opposition Conservatives, observed: “He has at last returned, like the prodigal son.”

Cllr Clenshaw won’t be drawn on the reasons for his departure or his subsequent return but says he will not stand at the next election as he nows lives in Bray.

“I had to move rather unexpectedly just after the last elections,” he told me. “It seems a bit foolish to ask the people of Henley to give you their vote when you no longer live in the town.”
