Residents consulted on homes

RESIDENTS of Goring have a chance to say where they think development should take place.

RESIDENTS of Goring have a chance to say where they think development should take place.

The village has been allocated 105 homes to be built by 2027 under targets set by South Oxfordshire District Council.

The council is to hold a public consultation meeting at the village hall on November 9 from 11am to 4pm.

It has earmarked 12 possible sites for development and will ask residents for feedback.

The sites include three to the north of the village off Wallingford Road, Springfield Road and Icknield Road.

The first measures 10 acres and is large enough to take the full quota. The other two are nearer the centre and of a similar size combined.

Other sites include a 37-acre field east of Fairfield Road, a 14-acre plot south of Reading Road and four plots along the southern edge of Gatehampton Road.

The final three are an 18-acre field between Icknield Road and Elvendon Road, a 1.5-acre field behind a house in Icknield Road and a 3.5-acre field behind a house in Elvendon Road.

Forty per cent of the new homes, which can be flats or houses, must be classed as affordable.
