Clerk reward

THE Benson parish clerk has had his contracted hours extended from 25 hours a week to 30.

THE Benson parish clerk has had his contracted hours extended from 25 hours a week to 30.

Pete Eldridge has been working the additional hours since he took on the role earlier this year and councillors have now agreed to formalise the arrangement.

Council chairman John Fowler said: “If the clerk is to do a sensible, reasonable job, he needs to do 30 hours a week. Maybe that is symptomatic of the amount of work increasing over the last few years.”
