Support for Henley to Shiplake cycle path

PLANS to introduce a cycle route between Henley and Shiplake have been revived.

PLANS to introduce a cycle route between Henley and Shiplake have been revived.

Three routes have previously been suggested — alongside the A4155, the Thames towpath or the railway line. Tudor Taylor, chairman of Shiplake Parish Council, said: “We want to take the lead on a project to look at the feasibility of developing a safe cycleway. In our community plan survey, 80 per cent of resident respondents rated the cycle path as important.” He said green travel charity Sustrans had quoted £6,500 to carry out a feasibility study and Oxfordshire County Council might be willing to contribute £1,500 towards the cost with Shiplake parish, and possibly Henley Town Council, also making a contribution. “A combined commitment is so much stronger,” added Cllr Taylor.
