Offer to cut hedges

HEDGE-CUTTING in Sonning Common could become the responsibility of the parish council.

HEDGE-CUTTING in Sonning Common could become the responsibility of the parish council.

Parish clerk Philip Collings suggested powers should be devolved from Oxfordshire County Council, saying his council could maintain hedges more cheaply.

David Bartholomew, who represents the ward on the county council, said area steward Keith Stenning was “receptive” to the idea.

“It makes a lot of sense,” he said. “The objective is to improve efficiency and reduce costs.”
