KNOTWEED has been found growing on land off Mill Road, Shiplake.

The invasive alien weed, which requires specialist removal, can grow as much as 20cm a day and can form dense clumps several metres deep.

David Bartholomew, who represents the village on Oxfordshire County Council, said the parish council should write to the landowner, saying that to allow knotweed to propagate is an offence under the Countryside and Wildlife Act and that if no action is taken police could prosecute.
