Parking plan delay

PLANS to increase parking in Sonning Common have been delayed.

PLANS to increase parking in Sonning Common have been delayed.

Residents raised concerns about parking in Pages Orchard and Ashford Avenue at a parish council meeting in November, saying there often wasn’t room for cars to turn round or to allow emergency vehicles through.

The council is considering turning a grass area near Pages Orchard into parking spaces for about 10 cars using “grasscrete”, concrete which allows grass to continue growing.

Speaking at a council meeting on Monday, parish clerk Philip Collings said it was proving “extremely difficult” to get any quotes for the work but added: “I’m definitely going to keep at it because it needs doing. We are not giving up.”
