Appeal to cut hedge

AN overgrown hedge in Wargrave is concerning parish councillors.

The laurel hedge in the car park off Recreation Road is owned by Wokingham Borough Council, which trims it periodically.

But Councillor Marion Pope says the hedge has been allowed to grow too much and needs to be cut back severely.

She told a parish council meeting on Monday: “It’s getting more like a tree and it’s not doing it any good. It does need to be cut back correctly and we can’t touch it really because it’s not our property.”

Council chairman Richard Bush said: “If we want something done we may have to do it ourselves.

“I suggest we write to Wokingham to say we need it taken right back and if they don’t do the work we will.

“It’s over our land and is causing a health and safety issue.”
