Residents consider draft neighbourhood plans

RESIDENTS are being urged to attend exhibitions on the draft Sonning Common neighbourhood development plan.

RESIDENTS are being urged to attend exhibitions on the draft Sonning Common neighbourhood development plan.

A six-week public consultation begins today (Friday) and runs until March 20.

Two exhibitions will take place at the village hall tonight from 6pm to 9pm and tomorrow from 10am and 3pm.

Barrie Greenwood, who chairs the plan working party, said: "We urge residents to attend on either date to view the latest plans for proposed development within Sonning Common, ask questions and complete comment and feedback forms.

"Your views are important in helping to shape the emerging neighbourhood development plan."

South Oxfordshire District Council has allocated a minimum of 138 new homes to the village.

The working party has refined the draft plan following exhibitions held in November and discussions with landowners, South Oxfordshire District Council, the Chilterns Conservation Board and residents.

Councillor Greenwood said it was "crucial" for residents to attend the exhibitions because the numbers would be examined when the plan was submitted for inspection by a government-approved independent examiner.

He said: "The minimum of 138 new homes affects us all."
