THE restoration of the grass verges along Hardwick Road in Whitchurch has started.
Oxfordshire County Coun-cil, the highways authority, has sent contractors to build a passing place on each side near the village’s eastern entrance.
There were previously none so motorists would pull up on the verges, destroying grass and flowers as well as scattering mud on the road.
The Whitchurch Habitat Study Group came up with the idea and campaigned to bring it to fruition.
It cost £8,000 and was funded by grants from the county council and Whit-church Parish Council.
