BOLLARDS that were placed unlawfully outside a house in West Street, Henley, some years ago have been removed as part of work to replace the brick pavement.

Nick Bastian, the father of actress Ali Bastian, paid Oxfordshire County Council £2,000 to carry out the original work, only to discover the pavement had listed building status.

After being removed, the nine bollards are being kept in storage in case drivers start parking there.

So far the signs are not good. Apparently, two 4x4s were parked on the footway on Sunday afternoon.
