New stand support

PLANS for a new stand at Henley Town Football Club have won the support of town councillors.

PLANS for a new stand at Henley Town Football Club have won the support of town councillors.

The club wants to create the new standing terrace for 100 people, which would be built near the goal at the car park end of the club’s Triangle Ground in Mill Lane.

It also wants to extend the existing stand so that it can fit 100 people seated instead of the current capacity of 64.

Members of the town council’s planning committee backed the plans despite concerns from a resident of Mill Lane. Paul Whitehead said: “Our only concerns are the traffic levels and parking, both of which can cause short-term issues at present.”

Councillor Elizabeth Hodgkin said: “I hope it does create more traffic and they get more people to watch on a Saturday.”
