Prospective District Councillor - Andrew Wallis

I AM married with four children and work as a software developer.

I am standing for election because I think that people need the opportunity to vote for greater social justice, environmental awareness and a voice that aims to represent all constituents. I believe that a diversity of views on the district council would be a benefit to everybody.

The current council has done a very good job in recent years in areas such as financing and recycling rates. I would look to continue that work but to go further, focusing on issues affecting all people across my ward and the district as a whole.

The recycling initiative has been successful because people have been given the means to achieve these targets. I would push for similar initiatives to help improve energy efficiency, such as improved home insulation for both new build and existing properties that would reduce emissions and heating bills. I would also look to encourage the development of renewable energy sources, including community projects where people are given the means to be more in control of their energy usage.

I also support the “buy local” campaign.
