Prospective District Councillor - Catherine Hughes

I HAVE lived in South Oxfordshire for more than 20 years, bringing up my family, and I have a full-time job in Oxford.

I have been active in my Liberal Democrat branch for much of that time. My main concerns are the provision of quality healthcare, protection of the natural environment and opportunities for all.

The Lib-Dems have pledged to invest £8billion to improve our NHS and guarantee equal care for mental health.

There should be an opportunity for every child from nursery to 19 years old. The Liberal Democrats in power have created two million apprenticeships and we will work for more locally.

We will protect nature and fight climate change. It is time to tackle air quality in Watlington.

We need more safe footpaths and cycle routes with any new development. Sustainability should be at the heart of the neighbourhood plan with solar panels on south-facing roofs and new development sited for easy access to our wonderful town centre.
