Prospective District Councillor - David Nimmo Smith

I HAVE extensive experience as a councillor at parish, district and county levels and I am the county council cabinet member for transport, planning and environment. Until boundary reorganisation in 2013, I represented, for eight years, five of the new ward villages on the county council.

In my current county and parish roles, I am deeply involved with neighbourhood plans, built up by the community, for the long-term benefit of their community.

I have sat on the Chilterns Conservation Board for 10 years and I am actively engaged in conserving and enhancing this area of the Chilterns. I will protect the AONB while promoting thoughtful development of adequate numbers of new homes and businesses, of sympathetic design and in appropriate places. We must have sustainable rural development and I will promote sensitive enhancements, with full community engagement, in affordable housing, communication and infrastructure. Community engagement ranks high on my list of priorities.

I value the unique heritage and diversity of the Chilterns and I will continue to support conservation groups working in the local rural environment.
