I AM 64 and live in Vicarage Road, Henley, with my wife Fiona, a veterinary surgeon and owner of Henley Vets, and our three sons, two dogs, four cats, five ducks and tortoise.
Our house has been refurbished to the point where it is so highly insulated and air tight that it preserves its heat and doesn’t even need central heating. I am an experienced teacher who gave up teaching as my boys came along to home educate them. I run a small web design business and am a member of Henley in Transition and run its website.
I am standing for election as I believe that Green Party values are essential to tackling the problems we face as a town, district, county and nation. If elected, I would encourage councillors to:
• Grow beyond partisan, soundbite policies and adopt much more of the joined-up thinking that is the hallmark of the Green Party.
• Consider infrastructure much more widely before giving developers the go-ahead.
• Look at innovative ways to improve our district’s environmental health.
• Look for ways to reduce the quantity of waste generated rather than ways to get as much as possible labelled recycled.
