I HAVE lived in the Sonning Common Ward for 25 years and represented it as a district councillor since 2004.  I have also been a parish councillor for 10 years, from 1995 to 2000 and then again from 2003 TO 2008.  Between 1999 and 2003 I was a district councillor for Henley.

I am single and have worked in the IT industry for 38 years and for SAS Software in Marlow for 20 years.

During the Nineties I was South Oxfordshire planning co-ordinator for the Chiltern Society, speaking on environmental issues at numerous planning enquirIes.  I also served on Sonning Common Open Spaces Trust’s management committee at the time of the campaign to purchase Old Copse and the Millennium Green.

At the last election I highlighted the need to protect our frontline services and reduce back office costs. This we have achieved with a reduction in district council tax of 11.5 per cent with no reduction in frontline services by combining services with Vale of White Horse District Council.

One of the greatest risks to our ward is a potential land grab of our parishes by Reading.  I will resist such a move as it would destroy the nature of the place we love.
