THE final seat on Henley Town Council was decided by drawing names out of a hat, so it was always going to make the loser feel bad.
Jane Smewing, of Henley Residents’ Group, and Conservative Rowan Fuller received the same number of votes for the eighth seat in the Henley South ward.
Their parties chose the decision method themselves but they could have tossed a coin.
Conservative Will Hall, who lost his seat on the district council the previous day, suggested: “They should get the candidates to race in downing a pint!”
Mr Fuller, his party colleague, promptly lost.
