Housing plan D-day

A MEETING to discuss whether Goring should compile a neighbourhood plan could be held next week.

A MEETING to discuss whether Goring should compile a neighbourhood plan could be held next week.

Goring Parish Council will meet on Monday to consider calling an extraordinary general meeting on the issue.

If it decides to proceed, the meeting is likely to take place next Friday (May 22).

A neighbourhood plan would name the sites where 86 new homes should go by 2027 to meet housing targets set by South Oxfordshire District Council.

If approved by more than half of voters in a village referendum, the document would be legally binding.

A group of residents began campaigning for a plan last month and they are seeking volunteers to help write it.

The council could not discuss the issue then as it was too close to last week’s  elections.

More information will be published in next week’s Henley Standard.
