Lifesaver welcomed

COUNCILLORS in Wargrave have approved plans for a defibrillator in the village.

COUNCILLORS in Wargrave have approved plans for a defibrillator in the village.

The Wargrave Runners want to put up to five of the devices in the village. The club has already raised money towards one and asked for feedback on where to put it.

Members of the parish council suggested mounting a machine on the wall of the Old Pavilion in the recreation ground off Recreation Road, where sports teams play.

It agreed to hold two sessions to teach people how to use the device, one for the sports teams and groups such as the scouts and guides and another for the wider public.

Councillor Andrew Luckwell added: “I think this is very worthwhile because in the last few weeks two football players in Belgium have died on the pitch from cardiac arrest.”
