BMX track deemed ‘high risk’

THE BMX track in Wargrave could be repaired after being deemed “high risk”.

An inspection by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents showed that areas of the track off Eastview Road are eroding, including most of the humps.

Parish clerk Stephen Hedges said the sides of the humps could be supported by grass matting but the council would have pay for the humps themselves to be resurfaced with tarmac or concrete.

He said that due to the cost, it would be a good idea to test this on one hump to see how effective it was.

Mr Hedges said: “We’ve had a safety inspection and it has been identified as high risk in certain areas. It’s nothing to panic about but it does need fairly swift attention.

“We have ground erosion evident on the sides of the humps but the big issue is what we have already identified — the humps themselves.”

Councillors agreed to seek a quote for grass matting on the sides of the humps and to arrange to test resurfacing one hump with concrete.
