Council backs third bridge

PEPPARD Parish Council has backed a third bridge over the Thames in Reading but only if

PEPPARD Parish Council has backed a third bridge over the Thames in Reading but only if it doesn’t cause increased traffic in the village.

It has agreed to back plans for a bridge subject to the results of a £250,000 traffic study and guarantees on infrastructure.

Chairman Tony Cotton said: “I propose we say in favour of a third bridge subject to circumstances that there will be proper infrastructure to deal with the traffic it causes.”

Councillor Tony Rancombe said: “We want to know how this is going to affect us before making clear our position because we know, for example, Oxfordshire County Council have no money for infrastructure.”
