A CRUMBLING pedestrian crossing in Benson is being assessed by highways chiefs.

A CRUMBLING pedestrian crossing in Benson is being assessed by highways chiefs.

Oxfordshire County Council was criticised by villagers after the crossing on the A4074 near the marina was not repaired for six weeks.

A council spokeswoman said: “We have responded to complaints that the situation there is dangerous and have coned off the area.

“We are assessing the repairs required (and where to get the funding from) before undertaking the work.”

The problem was first reported by former parish councillor Dave Rushton on July 2 on the Fix My Street website.
