Community forum to steer plan

A COMMUNITY group that will steer Watlington’s neighbourhood plan will be launched on September 30.

A COMMUNITY group that will steer Watlington’s neighbourhood plan will be launched on September 30.

This was the original date for the completed plan to go to a referendum but there have been months of delays.

Now the poll may not take place until as late as October 2017.

Earlier this year, three former parish councillors resigned from the previous group guiding the plan.

Rhian Woods, Nick Hancock and Neil Boddington said they no longer wanted to be on the parish council because of what they claimed was “uncertainty” over the plan and the number of new houses being allocated to Watlington.

Since then the council has decided to set up a community forum to develop the plan because it wants more input from residents.

The forum will be unveiled at Watlington Club on September 30 at 7.30pm.

It will be open to everyone who lives, works, shops or plays in the parish.

The forum will be responsible for developing the policies to be included in the plan, the evidence base for these policies and the criteria for selection of the preferred sites for new housing  developments.
