Manager role could go full-time

HENLEY could have a full-time town centre manager.

HENLEY could have a full-time town centre manager.

The part-time role is currently held by 28-year-old Rachel Rae on an interim basis following the departure of Peter McConnell in June.

Mr McConnell worked 18½ hours a week and was paid £16,000 a year, which was funded by the town council and South Oxfordshire District Council.

Miss Rae, whose contract ends on March 31, and town clerk Mike Kennedy have been asked to produce a report on the benefits and cost of making the role full-time.

The position was created in 2010 by South Oxfordshire District Council.

Branding and event management expert Oliver O’Dell was the first town centre manager but resigned after 18 months following criticism by councillors.

Mr McConnell, a 52-year-old marketing expert, was appointed in April 2012.
