WORK is about to start on a blueprint for the future of housing in Goring.
The parish council has agreed terms of reference for the village’s neighbourhood plan, which will name the sites where 86 new homes should go by 2027 to meet national targets.
A steering group made up of local residents and one parish councillor will be set up along with several volunteer working groups. So far about 60 people have offered to take part.
The groups will also consider other issues, such as infrastructure, transport and employment and recommend improvements.
Landowners within the Goring parish will be invited to offer sites for development and villagers will be asked which ones they prefer.
A final draft of the plan will go to public consultation before an independent planning inspector scrutinises it on South Oxfordshire District Council’s behalf.
If it passes, the plan will then go to a referendum and the housing allocation will become legally binding if it is adopted.
