Allotments inspection

HENLEY’S two allotment sites have been inspected by members of the town council

HENLEY’S two allotment sites have been inspected by members of the town council.

Councillors Sam Evans, David Eggleton and deputy Mayor Julian Brookes spent a morning at the Waterman’s allotments, off Reading Road, and the Greencroft allotments off Matson Drive.

They were shown around by members of the town’s allotments association, which looks after the 190 plots and rents them out on the council’s behalf.

Andrew Hawkins, the association’s chairman, and secretary Marisa Francini explained their duties and said demand for allotments was always high.

They said plots were never empty but they had cleared the waiting list by excluding applicants who did not live in or near Henley.
