Fun day date clash

A FAMILY fun day due to be held in Wargrave next year could clash with the village regatta.

A FAMILY fun day due to be held in Wargrave next year could clash with the village regatta.

Wokingham Borough Council wants to hold the second annual event at Kings Field, off Blakes Lane, on Saturday, August 6, during the weekend of Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta, which is attended by about 4,000 people.

Wargrave Parish Council has granted the borough council permission to use the field.

Clerk Stephen Hedges said: “It was extremely successful last year and they want to expand on that by getting more people involved. We suggested a Saturday would be better which is why they are now looking at that Saturday.”

This year’s fun day took place on August 6, with entertainment including a bake-off competition, arts and crafts stalls and a bouncy castle as well as a barbecue and refreshments.
