Plan for five new homes

A DEVELOPER wants to build houses on a field in Woodcote.

A DEVELOPER wants to build houses on a field in Woodcote.

Hicks Developments, of Woodley, is seeking planning permission for five detached properties on a 0.74-hectare plot to the north of Beech Lane.

There would be two houses with two bedrooms, two with four and one with five.

The site is not one of the seven earmarked for development in Woodcote’s neighbourhood plan, which was published last year.

However, the company claims it is acceptable as the development would be an “infill” scheme. It says the land is enclosed by trees and hedging and barely visible from the main road.

Woodcote Parish Council is yet to comment ON the application. South Oxfordshire District Council will make the final decision.

Meanwhile, a couple want to knock down their bungalow and garage in Woodcote and build up to three three-bedroom houses in their place.

Philip and Sue Lea are seeking outline planning permission for the scheme at Red Lane, off the B471 Oxford Road.

They say it should be regarded as a “windfall” site.
