Day’s free parking

PARKING will be free in the South Oxfordshire District Council car parks in Henley and Goring

PARKING will be free in the South Oxfordshire District Council car parks in Henley and Goring on one day a week during December.

The annual initiative is to encourage people to shop locally for Christmas.

In Goring the free day will be Saturday while in Henley (King’s Road, Greys Road and Southfields/Goodall Close car parks) it will be Tuesday. The days were chosen by the local councils.

In previous years, the offer was for half a day.

Robert Simister, cabinet member for economic development at the district council, said: “Traditional free Christmas parking is always very popular in South Oxfordshire. This year we’re allowing people to park for free for the entire day.

“Hopefully, many will take advantage of this, not only to do their shopping but also to enjoy a meal at one of our independent cafés or restaurants.”
