Neighbourhood plan forum meets

A NEW forum designed to guide Watlington’s neighbourhood plan will meet next week.

A NEW forum designed to guide Watlington’s neighbourhood plan will meet next week.

It will bring together advisory groups made up of volunteers that will look at specific issues, such as traffic, housing, development sites and infrastructure with a co-ordinating group to which they report.

The meeting will be held in the Watlington Club in High Street on Monday from 7.30pm.

The forum was created following months of delays in developing the plan and aims to engage more members of the community.

The co-ordinating group will report to a neighbourhood plan steering committee made up of five parish councillors, which will report to the full council.

In September, about 120 people attended an event to relaunch the neighbourhood plan.

This took place on the original date for the completed plan to go to a referendum.   Now the poll is unlikely to take place before September 2017.

The town has been allocated 79 new homes to be built by 2027 under South Oxfordshire District Council’s core strategy but this number could rise.
