THE cricket pavilion at Gardiner recreation ground in Goring is to be refurbished.

THE cricket pavilion at Gardiner recreation ground in Goring is to be refurbished.

The parish council has been granted planning permission for a £50,000 makeover of the building, which is said to be “generally sub-standard”.

There will be a new female toilet with disabled access and the boiler and the electrical fittings will be replaced before the building is deep-cleaned and redecorated.

Outside, a new footpath will connect the access ramp on the main road to the front door. There will also be a new side entrance with steps.

The council is planning a second phase of work in which the building will be extended and more showers and changing rooms added.

It will be applying for additional grants to cover the cost of the work.
