Makeover idea axed

ROAD markings in Peppard will not be repainted due to the cost.

ROAD markings in Peppard will not be repainted due to the cost.

Peppard Parish Council wanted the “Slow” markings in Blounts Court Road to be redone.

Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority, said the work would cost £591.39 plus VAT (£709.69) and would not include the red background the markings are painted on.

Council chairman Tony Cotton said: “I thought the white and the red would be done. I am in favour of it being done but I am concerned about the cost.”

The council agreed not to pursue the idea.
