Pavilion proposal

A NEW sports pavilion could be built in Ewelme.

A NEW sports pavilion could be built in Ewelme.

The parish council has applied for planning permission from South Oxfordshire District Council for the timber building and to demolish the existing pavilion at the village sports ground, off High Street, which it says is old and inadequate.

It also wants to build a groundman’s store in place of two metal containers which house mowing machinery and sports equipment.

The new pavilion would have changing rooms and toilets as well as catering facilities.

In its application, the council says: “The proposed pavilion is only slightly larger than the existing structure and at only 4.62m to the ridge height will not appear dominant in the street scene, particularly as the location is at a low point within the sports field.”

The district council will make a decision by January 18.
