ARGUMENTS over Henley Town Council’s budget were not confined to the council chamber last week.
A row between Ian Reissmann, a member of the opposition Henley Residents’ Group, and Will Hamilton, a member of the ruling Conservatives, spilled over on to Twitter.
Cllr Reissmann accused the Tories of putting the council’s budget for next year in danger of being in deficit, which he said would be “disastrous”.
Cllr Hamilton replied that the council’s reserves would not be depleted and the residents’ group just didn’t like change.
Cllr Reissmann then tweeted “Will H has lost the plot” and added a link to the book Corporate Finance for Dummies.
The row dates back to May when the Tories won power of the council for the first time in years and Cllr Reissmann lost his position as chairman of the finance strategy and management committee.
It will no doubt be repeated when the full council comes to finalise the budget in February.
