Town Team restructure

REPRESENTATIVES of South Oxfordshire District Council are to be asked to help restructure the Henley Town Team.

REPRESENTATIVES of South Oxfordshire District Council are to be asked to help restructure the Henley Town Team.

Economic development officer Suzanne Malcolm and Councillor Robert Simister, cabinet member for economic development, are to be invited to join a working group of councillors examining the make-up of the business improvement group.

The Town Team was founded last year with the task of making Henley the “best town in the world to live, run a business, work, play and visit by 2030”.

However, it was branded “a secret club” by town councillors who were unhappy at their lack of representation.

The working group comprises Mayor Lorraine Hillier, Deputy Mayor Julian Brookes and Councillors Sarah Miller, Sara Abey and Sam Evans. Interim town manager Rachel Rae is also a member.

They will also work on the recruitment of a permanent town manager from April.

The Town Team receives £20,000 in funding from the town council and £4,000 from the district council towards economic development.
