Grants shake-up

SOUTH Oxfordshire District Council has axed its £21,000 grant to Henley Town Council from its council tax reduction

SOUTH Oxfordshire District Council has axed its £21,000 grant to Henley Town Council from its council tax reduction scheme.

Instead, it has introduced a new grant to fund initiatives such as community festivals, which must be applied for.

The town council is to request £15,000, which will go towards events such as the “heroes return” parade for the GB rowers returning from the Olympic Games in Rio, the second Henley House and Garden Show in March, the new Henley on Food Festival in April and May, the celebrations to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday in May and a Sunday shopping event to be held in the run-up to Christmas.
