PLANS to convert a disused Henley gym into a care home will not be decided until next month
PLANS to convert a disused Henley gym into a care home will not be decided until next month at the earliest.
Developer Henthames is to submit a revised proposal for the 80-bed facility at the former LA Fitness premises, off Newtown Road, to South Oxfordshire District Council.
Its original application was opposed by Network Rail, which said the scheme would encroach on to its land by the railway tracks and could obstruct maintenance work. Highways officers at Oxfordshire County Council said that spaces in the proposed car park did not meet standards and there was “no evidence of adequate provision” of an ambulance bay.
The company’s new plans could go before the district council’s planning committee on March 9 but if a large number of residents comment then it might have to wait until the following meeting on March 23. A decision was originally expected by January 12.
