‘Don’t develop in AONB’

COUNCILLORS in Peppard have voiced their opposition to the Sonning Common neighbourhood development plan.

COUNCILLORS in Peppard have voiced their opposition to the Sonning Common neighbourhood development plan.

They are primarily concerned about the potential use of a site in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Peppard Parish Council is one of the statutory consultees on the plan.

It says that only land outside the AONB should be included in the plan and that existing recreation facilities should be improved before new ones are created. Speaking at a council meeting on Monday, Councillor Simon Crouch said: “When the inspector looks at the plan he will want to find all the objections. I’m sure he will look for the neighbouring parishes first.”

The plan is undergoing public consultation, which ends on March 10.

After this an examiner will be appointed and the draft will be forwarded by South Oxfordshire District Council, the planning authority.

Copies of the plan can be viewed at the Sonning Common parish office in Wood Lane, Sonning Common library and online at www.scpc-ndp.co.uk
