Boundary move plan

RESIDENTS have welcomed plans to bring all of Kidmore End parish into the Chilterns

RESIDENTS have welcomed plans to bring all of Kidmore End parish into the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The parish council wants Natural England to move the boundary so the AONB includes the hamlets of Tokers Green and Chalkhouse Green as well as Kidmore End, Cane End and Gallowstree Common, which are already inside it.

Chairwoman Sue Biggs and vice-chairwoman Caroline Aldridge held an informal consultation meeting with residents at the jubilee pavilion in Gallowstree Common.

Cllr Biggs said: “Generally there was an overwhelmingly positive response.

“It could take 15 years or more before the boundary is up for review so what we’re going to be doing when the next review comes around is ask if the boundary can be extended.”

Henley MP John Howell has said he supports the council’s plans.

The councillors also asked parishioners for their views on new equipment for the play area at Gallowstree Common recreation ground and three designs were on  display.

Cllr Biggs said: “I wouldn’t say one design came out on top. The kids liked the designs with the most action and play in them while parents wanted to see a wooden structure in keeping with how it is now.”

The council will apply for grants for the equipment.
