Play area makeover

WATLINGTON Parish Council needs to raise almost £20,000 to replace equipment in a play area.

WATLINGTON Parish Council needs to raise almost £20,000 to replace equipment in a play area.

South Oxfordshire District Council has agreed to meet half the total cost.

The parish council has allocated some money in its 2016/17 budget and is planning a series of fund-raising events.

The equipment at the Paddock, behind Old School Place, opened in 2002 and is nearing the end of its life.

In September, vandals damaged a raised platform beyond repair.

Parish councillor Rachel Huckvale said: “It’s on its last legs. To be honest if we don’t replace it, it’s just going to fall into disuse because it’s not going to be fit for purpose.”

The council is seeking ideas for fund-raising ideas. Email Cllr Huckvale at wpc@watlington-oxon-pc.gov.uk
