PLANS to build 25 new homes in a field at the northern edge of Woodcote have been approved.

PLANS to build 25 new homes in a field at the northern edge of Woodcote have been approved.

The Oratory School, which owns the land at Chiltern Rise, off Reading Road, has been granted permission for a mix of two- and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses. Nine would be classed as “affordable”.

The independent Catholic boys’ school applied to South Oxfordshire District Council 11 months ago and was initially seeking consent for 27 properties but later reduced this figure.

Access would be off Reading Road using a new priority junction and there would be a driveway connecting the site to Woodcote Garden Centre to the west, where owner Michael Hill is seeking consent for nine homes.

Mr Hill will continue trading from smaller premises if his application is approved.

Woodcote Parish Council has recommended approval of the school’s application.
