A FORMER mayor of Henley has called for council meetings about a possible development site to be held in public.

Gill Dodds, leader of Henley Residents’ Group, wants town councillors to discuss plans for the site next to Tesco in the open. Speaking at a full council meeting on Tuesday, she said: “It’s on the agenda under confidential, please bring it out.

“I understand when it’s commercially sensitive it can’t be in public session but we could talk about the principle of affordable housing.”

In March she called on the council not to sell the land but to let it and for every home built to be affordable. The council turned down her plea.
