RESIDENTS of Whitchurch have been asked for ideas for new signs welcoming people to the village.

RESIDENTS of Whitchurch have been asked for ideas for new signs welcoming people to the village.

The parish council is to buy three replacement signs for the entrances in High Street, Hardwick Road and at the toll bridge.

The new signs will be oblong with a small semi-circle on top and will bear the words “Welcome to Whitchurch-on-Thames” as well as a statement such as “Twinned with La Bouille, France” or “Please drive carefully”.

The council also wants to include an image, such as a picture of the bridge, a view of St Mary’s Church from the river or a coat of arms.
