Plan for new toilet at fields

A NEW public toilet could be installed at the recreation ground in Wargrave.

A NEW public toilet could be installed at the recreation ground in Wargrave.

There is already a toilet near the Old Pavilion at the ground off Recreation Road but it has been suggested that this should be moved closer to the adjoining Kings Field, which hosts regular football matches.

The parish council has been offered a public toilet by Wokingham Town Council for £10,000.

The stainless steel structure would be connected to existing plumbing in the field and has an automatic lock on the door which can be set in the evenings.

Parish clerk Stephen Hedges said: “There has been a dramatic change of use at Kings Field recently so it would make more sense to have it closer to the facilities.”

The existing toilet could be put in storage or remain where it is.

Councillor Marion Pope said: “I think we should have one on each side.

“It might be a good idea because we keep getting people coming into the bowls club asking to use the toilets.”
