AN 185-year-old bridge near Charvil will be closed to traffic for more than two months for repair work.

Wokingham Borough Council says Twyford Mill Bridge, on Old Bath Road between the village and Twyford, is “showing signs of deterioration”.

It was shut on Monday so a concrete saddle can be installed and is not expected to re-open until July 31.

Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the bridge but traffic will be diverted via Wargrave Road, New Bath Road and the A3032.
