Upgrade for Henley town hall

A NEW audio visual system could be installed at Henley town hall in a bid to improve bookings.

A NEW audio visual system could be installed at Henley town hall in a bid to improve bookings.

The town council is considering spending up to £35,000 on the equipment and £5,000 on marketing it.

Councillor Sarah Miller told a meeting of the town and community committee that the council would be able to charge £30 to £40 per hour for hire of the main hall.

“Get the audio visual in and you can start selling it to conferences, one-dayers and two-dayers,” she said.

Deputy Mayor Will Hamilton said the existing sound system had caused problems and added: “I think we should just get on with it.”

Councillor Sam Evans said: “That room is empty most of the time and this is a fantastic opportunity to get it used. It would get more people staying in Henley, using the shops. It would be a win, win.”

The full councill will make a final decision on June 14.
