Decision delayed

A DECISION on plans for 241 new homes in Benson has been deferred.

A DECISION on plans for 241 new homes in Benson has been deferred.

Members of South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee want to visit the farmland north of Littleworth Road, which architect WestWaddy wants to develop.

The company already has planning permission for 159 properties on the site after winning a planning appeal last year.

WestWaddy says the second phase of development would form a “natural extension” to the village and provide convenient access to the village via footpaths and cycleways.

However, residents have raised concerns about the impact the development would have on the infrastructure.

The council’s planning officers have recommended granting consent.

Benson is in the process of drawing up a fast-track neighbourhood plan designed to give villagers more say on what type of housing is needed and where it should be built.
