A DEVELOPER has been forbidden from knocking down a house in Whitchurch and building two in its place.

Bellmore Homes wanted to demolish The Haven, a Thirties property in Eastfield Lane, then erect a pair of two-storey, four-bedroom homes on the site.

The firm had already removed the roof before neighbours complained to South Oxfordshire District Council, which ordered the company to file a planning application.

The council then refused permission, saying it was overdevelopment of the land and did not offer enough off-street parking.

It said demolition work must stop immediately and urged residents to report any further breaches.
